FIRST THOUGHT

If ever the R&A wanted to throw a celebration, then this year's 150th playing of the British Open at St. Andrews would be as good as any — and it is. The R&A announced plans for the Celebration of Champions, which will bring 48 various champions together on the Monday of Open week for a four-hole challenge on the Old Course. In late March, the R&A will stage a Celebration of Light, a spectacular light and sound projection show that will be beamed onto the clubhouse building.

> Question of the Week: What is your opinion on the party atmosphere at the WM Phoenix Open's par-3 16th hole and whether celebrations for aces made by Sam Ryder (third round) and Carlos Ortiz (final round) crossed a line?
Send replies on this question or other topics to shall@morningread.com. For your response to be published, you must include first and last name, along with city and state of residence. Read last week's responses.
