The friendly skies are back, according to Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC) data for February. ARC-accredited travel agency air ticket sales for February totaled $5.4 billion, a 253% year-over-year increase from February 2021. Also, for month over month, February 2022 total sales were up 48%, total passenger trips increased 21%, U.S. domestic trips were up 17% and international trips were up 28%.

Announced: By Cadi, the endorsement by PGA Tour player Paul Casey of its retail automation company. Cadi can provide a golf course with a kiosk that allows golfers the opportunity to demo clubs right on the course and purchase them instantly through a self-service kiosk and e-commerce platform.
Introduced: By Haas-Jordan, the Sunflector umbrella, which is made of a silver UV reflective outer canopy and features a 62-inch arc.
Introduced: By TaylorMade Golf, the new Tour Response, Tour Response Stripe and Soft Response golf balls. The Tour Response integrates the brand's Tour Flight Dimple Pattern seen in its TP5/TP5x balls; the Tour Response Stripe features the new 360° ClearPath Alignment design; and the 2022 Soft Response is the company's softest golf ball from cover to core.
Awarded: By the USGA, the Eisenhower Golf Course at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with the 2023 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship. The course is the first affiliated with a military academy to host a USGA championship. The 74th edition will be held July 17-22, 2023.
Announced: By the LPGA Foundation, its 2022 LPGA Leadership Academy schedule. The LPGA Leadership Academy uses the game of golf as a platform and learning tool to teach girls how to become better decision-makers; overcome and let go of setbacks; take calculated risks and embrace opportunities; develop skills to accomplish specific goals; and play their own game and find their own voice.
Partnered: By BetParx, with the Memorial Tournament to become the tournament's mobile sports betting sponsor. Also, BetParx will become the PGA Tour's betting operator. BetParx plans to offer branded fan experiences during the Memorial Tournament.
Released: By BioMech Golf, releases the BioMech Putt app for Android and the BioMech Max putter to its line of putters. The app is a putting analysis system that uses a sensor to measure and analyze a golfer’s putting stroke in real time and under real playing conditions. Also, the BioMech Max putter is built heavier than earlier versions to deliver a better feel and improved performance.
Announced: By the PGA of America and Omni PGA Frisco Resort, a new six-year partnership with UT Southwestern Medical Center. The relationship will begin in 2023, to coincide with the official opening of PGA Frisco and Omni PGA Frisco Resort. The medical center will intrate its brand into the daily operations of the PGA Frisco campus, with strategically located sun protection and sanitation measures, as well as by providing sun safety, healthy movement, and healthy eating educational messaging to PGA Frisco guests.
The cost of keeping up a golf course — from fertilizer for turf to gas for maintenance equipment — is rising, but The First Call’s Bradley S. Klein believes it’s a small price as part of a broader picture
