As 2022 heads into the second quarter, the United Kingdom and Ireland are experiencing a golf boom of sorts. According to BRS Golf, a provider of tee time management technology, 5.2 million member rounds were booked — a 110 percent increase in member play over pre-pandemic levels in 2020. In 2021, BRS Golf facilitated 22.9 million member rounds, a 3% year-on-year increase and a 70% increase compared to 2019.

Announced: By Swag Golf, a multiyear licensing partnership with McLaren Racing to create McLaren-branded golf putters, headcovers and accessories.
Signed: By TaylorMade, Rory McIlroy, a 20-time PGA Tour winner and four-time major champion, to a multiyear extension to play TaylorMade equipment and golf ball. McIlroy has won seven times with TaylorMade equipment in his bag.
Announced: By Tripp Davis and Associates, that its bunker renovation work at FarmLinks at Pursell Farms, located in Sylacanga, Alabama, is complete. The firm completely renovated all bunkers as well as two chipping green bunkers and changed the fairway mow lines to help define the course better visually off the tee.
Announced: By the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, that Clive Brown will serve as captain in 2022-23. Brown, who captained the Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup teams to wins in 1995 and 1997, will begin his one-year term with the traditional driving-in ceremony on the first tee at the Old Course on Sept. 23.
