FIRST THOUGHT

If 2024's majors are an early precursor to success at the 2025 Ryder Cup — albeit still slightly more than 13 months away — then newly minted captain Keegan Bradley has to like the Yanks' chances. With Xander Schauffele winning the British Open, along with the PGA Championship in May, all four majors were won by Americans this year. Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau won the Masters and U.S. Open, respectively. It's the first time since 1982 that the majors were swept by Americans — Craig Stadler, Masters; Tom Watson, U.S. Open, British Open; and Raymond Floyd, PGA Championship. The last non-American to win a major is Jon Rahm at the 2023 Masters.

The First Call: What is your favorite instructional tip to share with a golfer?
Eric Solander: Make sure you get behind the ball between you and the target, and then find your intermediate target.

TFC: Is there a particular area of your job that you find most rewarding?
ES: By far it is helping the customers. It is hard to explain why, but I honestly love creating new relationships out on the golf course. As an instructor, I get to have the ability to build the customer relationships too. Seeing people who have never met come to a class and a year later they are going on trips together to go play golf and inviting new friends to the club to play. It is an awesome feeling.
