While the PGA Tour's 2022-23 FedEx Cup Playoffs is 11 months off, success in this week's Fortinet Championship and the fall portion of the wraparound season can go a long way toward good postseason fortune. The last three winners of the Fortinet Championship — Max Homa (2021), Stewart Cink (2020) and Cameron Champ (2019) have gone on to qualify for the Tour Championship. Also, four of the last six FedEx Cup champions have won a tournament in the fall portion of the season — Rory McIlroy (2021 The CJ Cup, 2022 FedEx Cup), Justin Thomas (2016 CIMB Classic, 2017 FedEx Cup), Justin Rose (2017 WGC-HSBC Champions, 2018 FedEx Cup) and Patrick Cantlay (2020 Zozo Championship, 2021 FedExCup).
