FIRST THOUGHT

One more day removed from the Ryder Cup means one more day closer to the Ryder Cup, and speculation as to who will be the next U.S. captain is rising. Not since Ben Hogan in 1947 and '49 has an American served successive captaincies. Steve Stricker, though, makes a strong argument for a reprising his role in 2023. In addition to hammering Europe, 19-9, he captained the Yanks to a 19-11 Presidents Cup win in 2017. Only Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer have pulled off the dual feat.
