FIRST THOUGHT

Playoffs in golf are hard to create, perhaps even harder to win. But don't tell 36-year-old Nick Taylor. In his 284th career start, the Canadian won the Sony Open on Sunday, defeating Nico Echavarria in a playoff for his fifth PGA Tour victory. Three of Taylor's wins have come via playoff and his playoff record is an immaculate 3-0. In fact, his last three wins have come by way of a playoff.
