This week's American Express is one of two official PGA Tour events that uses a pro-am format — the other being the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am — and one of four that is played across multiple courses. The other three are the Farmers Insurance Open, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, RSM Classic). The American Express, though, is the only of the four to be played across more than two courses. Play will be contested on the La Quinta Country Club course, Nicklaus Tournament Course and Pete Dye Stadium Course. Each professional will be grouped with amateurs for the first three rounds before the low 65 professionals (and ties) will play their final round at the PGA West Stadium Course.
