A couple of European Ryder Cup stalwarts whose hopes for making the 2025 team are not yet secured, showed some mettle Thursday. Viktor Hovland, 27, and Justin Rose, 44, each shot 7-under 65 in the opening round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am to sit a stroke off the lead set by Russell Henley. According to Data Golf, Hovland, a two-time European team member, currently has a decent 47.8% chance of making the squad, while Rose is a longshot at 1.5%. A third Euro Ryder Cupper, recent Tour winner Sepp Straka, also shot a 65. He has a 48.4% chance of making his second Ryder Cup appearance this fall.
