Texas Children’s Houston Open Takeaways:
▪️ Gary Woodland, 41, produced an emotionally stirring win, shooting a tournament-record 21-under 259 to win by five strokes over Nicolai Hojgaard. Woodland underwent surgery to remove a brain lesion in September 2023 and returned to competition at the 2024 Sony Open in Hawaii. Earlier this month, he went public with a PTSD diagnosis in the wake of brain surgery.
▪️ Woodland earns his fifth PGA Tour victory in his 396th start and it was his first win since claiming the 2019 U.S. Open — a span of 151 starts (6 years, 9 months, 13 days).
▪️ Woodland was one stroke shy of matching the largest margin of victory in tournament history — Jack Burke Jr. (1952), Vijay Singh (2002) and Stuart Appleby (2006).
▪️ Two players in the field who were not yet exempt qualified for the Masters via the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking — Nicolai Hojgaard (2) and Jake Knapp (T6).
▪️ Three aces were made at the 2026 Texas Children's Houston Open. The last time three aces were recorded at the same event was at the 2023 U.S. Open.
