Valero Texas Open Talking Points:
▪️ Tommy Fleetwood is the highest-ranked player in the field at No. 4 in the Official World Golf Ranking, and has finished T8 or better in three of four starts this season — T4, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am; T7, Genesis Invitational; T8, The Players Championship.
▪️ Reigning champion Brian Harman enters the week No. 55 in the FedEx Cup points standings. He has four PGA Tour wins and, this season, has made five cuts with two top-25 finishes — T19, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am; T11, The Players Championship.
▪️ There are nine players in the field ranked inside the top 20 of the Official World Golf Ranking, and 17 of the top 50.
▪️ The last spot in the Masters is available to the winner of the Valero Texas Open if not otherwise qualified. There are currently 24 players in the field that are exempt for the Masters. Among the players who will need to win to qualify for the Masters are Tony Finau and Rickie Fowler.
▪️ Three of the last six winners of the Valero Texas Open qualified for the Masters with their victory — 2019, Corey Conners; 2022, J.J. Spaun; and 2024, Akshay Bhatia.
▪️ Sponsor exemptions: Ryan Palmer, Brandt Snedeker, Camilo Villeags, Jimmy Walker.
▪️ In winning the Texas Children's Houston Open, Gary Woodland, 41, became just the second player (third instance) in his 40s to win on Tour in the last 96 events. Justin Rose won the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship and 2026 Farmers Insurance Open.
