Six of the last 10 major championships have been won by players who were ranked No. 3 or better in the Official World Golf Ranking heading into the major championship. The outliers were J.J. Spaun (No. 25, 2025 U.S. Open), Bryson DeChambeau (No. 38, 2024 U.S. Open), Brian Harman (No. 26, 2023 British Open) and Wyndham Clark (No. 32, 2023 U.S. Open). The remaining six were won by Scott Scheffler (three majors), Xander Schauffele (two) and Rory McIlroy.
