While first-round play needed to be completed today due to Thursday's weather delays, Matt McCarty's 8-under 63 at Quail Hollow Club is going to be hard to top. And he did it mostly with his putting. McCarty recorded 220-feet, 1-inch of putts, the most by a player in a single round on the PGA Tour since the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open (Sami Valimaki, 227-feet, 6-inches). He made three putts of 50-plus feet in his first eight holes — No. 13, 52-5; No. 16, 59-8; and No. 17, 52-0.
