RBC CANADIAN OPEN TAKEAWAYS
➡️ Bud Cauley captured his first career PGA Tour victory in his 239th start, firing a final-round 65 to secure a two-stroke win at 17-under par. At 36 years old, he became the event's 18th first-time winner.
➡️ World No. 4 Matt Fitzpatrick carded a 6-under 64 to finish as the solo runner-up at 15-under par, his fifth career second-place finish. Making his tournament debut, Norway's Viktor Hovland shot a 65 to claim solo third at 14-under par, marking his best individual Tour finish since the 2025 U.S. Open.
➡️ Through the Open Qualifying Series, three players earned exemptions into the 154th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. Cauley, along with Jesper Svensson and Jackson Suber — who both finished in a tie for fourth place at 13-under par —clinched the three available qualifying spots.
➡️ Ontario native and PGA Tour rookie Sudarshan Yellamaraju finished tied for eighth at 12-under par to claim the Rivermead Cup as the low Canadian golfer. ... Defending champion Ryan Fox also finished at T8, while nine-time Tour winner Brooks Koepka withdrew before the final round due to a hand injury.
