TRAVELERS CHAMPIONS TAKEAWAYS

➡️ Viktor Hovland captured his eighth PGA Tour title at the Travelers Championship, defeating Scottie Scheffler with a birdie on the first playoff hole on Monday morning. Hovland posted a career-best 72-hole score of 259 to become the tournament's first Norwegian winner. The victory improved his career record to 5-for-6 when holding a 54-hole lead.
➡️ Scottie Scheffler finished runner-up after losing the Monday playoff to Hovland, but maintained his top spot in the FedEx Cup standings. It marked Scheffler's 14th career runner-up finish and his fourth of the season. Scheffler also extended his historic streaks to 35 consecutive top-25 finishes and 78 consecutive made cuts.
➡️ Collin Morikawa finished solo-third at 20-under par after firing a spectacular 9-under 61 in the final round. The score equaled his career-low round on the PGA Tour, which he previously set at the 2023 Tour Championship. Morikawa narrowly missed recording the largest come-from-behind victory in Travelers Championship history.
➡️ Wyndham Clark tied for fifth in his attempt to become the first player to win on the PGA Tour the week directly following a major victory since Scottie Scheffler pulled off the feat in 2024. ... Patrick Cantlay tied for 14th, which extended an impressive streak of nine consecutive top-15 finishes specifically at the Travelers Championship. ... Keegan Bradley also tied for 14th in his bid to become the tournament's first back-to-back winner since Phil Mickelson accomplished it in 2002.
