FIRST THOUGHT

After weeks of speculation as to what Topgolf Callaway Brands might do with Topgolf, its entertainment driving-range operator, the board announced on Wednesday that it was splitting the company into two businesses. Callaway, a golf equipment and apparel business, first invested in Topgolf in 2006, then bought the company outright in 2021. The announcement caused Topgolf Callaway shares to rise 8.2% to $11.65 in after-hours trading. The separation is expected to be complete by mid-2025.
