SOLHEIM CUP TALKING POINTS
➡️ The last four Solheim Cups have been remarkably close: 14.5–13.5 for Europe in 2019; 15–13 for Europe in 2021; a 14–14 tie in 2023; and 15.5–12.5 for the United States in 2024. That is a combined difference of just six points over four competitions. By comparison, the last four Ryder Cups have been decided by a cumulative margin of 24 points.
➡️ The Americans are searching for their first victory on European soil since 2015, when they won 14.5–13.5 in Germany. Overall, visiting teams are 3-3-1 over the last seven Solheim Cups, dating back to Europe's 18–10 victory in Colorado in 2013.
➡️ This year, the average U.S. player is about a year older than the average European player (29 vs. 28). This snaps a notable trend: in each of the previous 10 Solheim Cups (2007 to 2024), the American squad was younger.
➡️ Teams leading after Day 1 hold an all-time Solheim Cup record of 14-3-1, while teams leading entering singles play are 9-4-0. Six times — most recently in 2023 — the competition has been deadlocked heading into Sunday singles.
POLL OF THE WEEK
TIME FOR A CHANGE?
Despite Great Britain & Ireland's stunning comeback to win the 51st Walker Cup Sunday, the United States still leads the series 40-10-1. Should the Walker Cup expand, similar to the Ryder Cup, so that Great Britain & Ireland includes players from continental Europe?
