FIRST THOUGHT

The Presidents Cup is still a week away, but United States Captain Jim Furyk has to be feeling confident about the prospects in advance of arriving at Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Quebec. Not only does Furyk have the world's top two players — No. 1 and FedEx Cup champion Scottie Scheffler and No. 2 Xander Schauffele — but also eight of the top 14. International Team Captain Mike Weir can only counter with Japan's Hideki Matsuyama, who is seventh in the world. The next highest-ranked player is Australian Adam Scott, who is 17th.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Tiger Woods had another surgery performed on Sept. 13, and is expected to be out between eight and 12 weeks. In 2024, Woods played all four majors for the first time since 2019, but made the cut only at the Masters. What should be the realistic competitive expectations for Woods, 48, going forward?
