FIRST THOUGHT

So much of a player's performance can be quantified these days. From scoring stats to swing speeds, nearly every aspect is available for analysis. About the only unknown variable is a player's mental state. Following the second round of The Ascendant LPGA, 36-hole leader Charley Hull attributed her stellar play to her mindset. "I feel like when I'm on the golf course now, I pretend I'm at home with my friends and be more relaxed," she said. "That's what I'm doing and it seems to be working." And it continued working right through the weekend as the 26-year-old Hull, of England, won her second LPGA title — and first since 2016.
