A 9-foot birdie putt was all that stood between Englishman David Skinns and shooting 59 on Thursday in the Sanderson Farms Championship's opening round. Skinns settled for a 60. Had Skinns rolled the putt in on the ninth hole, his 18th, he would have become the third golfer to shoot 59 on the PGA Tour this season, joining Cameron Young (third round, Travelers Championship) and Hayden Springer (first round, John Deere Classic). Instead, Skinns had to settle for the season's second-best score, which was the 51st 60 on record since 1983 and eighth this season. Skinns' scorecard featured 12 birdies — six on each side — and while half were on putts of less than 10 feet, he also dropped a 52-foot bomb.
