FIRST THOUGHT

The PGA Tour is in Japan this week for the Baycurrent Classic. Here are three things to know:
▪️ Every year since 1993, the PGA Tour has had at least one Japanese player in its membership, including five with fully exempt status for the 2025 season: Hideki Matsuyama, Ryo Hisatsune, Takumi Kanaya, Kaito Onishi and Rikuya Hoshino.
▪️ Located approximately 25 miles south of Tokyo, Yokohama Country Club opened in 1960 as a 36-hole facility designed by the late Takeo Aiyama. The tournament will be held with an original routing that combines 16 holes from the West Course and two holes from the East Course.
▪️ Collin Morikawa, the 2023 Baycurrent Classic winner, is making his seventh consecutive career start at the event. He has two runner-up finishes this season, but has not won on Tour since winning this event two years ago.
