FIRST THOUGHT

For any player in this week's Black Desert Championship — the third of eight FedEx Cup Fall events — winning is the goal. But for those players hovering around the No. 125 mark in the FedEx Cup Fall Standings, a made cut and solid finish would go a long way to making them exempt into all full-field events and The Players for the 2025 season. And standings movement is volatile. Players to move into the Top 125 after last week's Sanderson Farms Championship were Hayden Springer (T8; from No. 127 to No. 115), Alex Smalley (T5; from No. 132 to No. 116) and Vince Whaley (T16; from No. 126 to No. 121). Falling out were Pierceson Coody (MC; from No. 121 to No. 127), Dylan Wu (MC; from No. 122 to No. 128) and Matt NeSmith (T48; from No. 124 to No. 130).
