To a small degree, Matt McCarty can relate to the type of success Scottie Scheffler enjoyed in 2024. If you're not quite familiar with McCarty, he spent most of his year on the Korn Ferry Tour, but earned a Korn Ferry Tour’s Three-Victory Promotion. On Sunday, McCarty, 26, won the PGA Tour's Black Desert Championship after posted four sub-70 rounds to finish at 23-under par and win by three strokes. McCarty became just the second player to win on Tour after earning a promotion, joining Jason Gore (2005 84 Lumber Classic), and joined Bob Gilder (1976), Seve Ballesteros (1978) and Russell Henley (2013) as needing just three PGA Tour starts before winning. The win was also McCarty's fourth in his last 10 combined Tour starts.
