Statistically, according to the National Golf Foundation, nearly 80% of rounds are played at public daily fee, municipal and resort courses. So, it goes to reason that if rounds played are up, then the uptick is attributed to public play. But, as 2025 closes in on another record year, "private golf round gains have trended ahead of those on the public side in every month so far in 2025," reports the NGF. The biggest month through September has been August, when private play was up 9% year-over-year.
