FIRST THOUGHT

Something is amiss this week as the PGA Tour sits idle until next week when the Sony Open kicks off the new season. This is the first time since 1999 that the Tour hasn't opened with its tournament of champions — known as The Sentry the past two years — during the first week of January. Drought conditions at Kapalua Golf's Plantation Course in 2025 prompted the Tour to cancel the event for 2026. As for all of 2025's tournament champions? They have been invited to play the RBC Heritage in April.
