FIRST THOUGHT

The 69th PGA Show kicks off Tuesday in Orlando, Fla., and what has become golf’s largest global business event actually began in 1954 when a small group of equipment manufacturer reps set up temporary shop in the PGA National Golf Club parking lot in Dunedin, Fla. PGA professionals who had migrated from the Northwest and Midwest to play in a series of winter tournaments would stop by to check out the latest offerings. This year, even despite reduced numbers due to the pandemic, the PGA Show will attract representatives from more than 600 companies.
