Justin Rose took advantage of a benign North Course in the opening round of the Farmers Insurance Open Thursday. Rose posted a 10-under 62 to hold the solo lead. Now the real work begins. While Rose holds or shares the first-round lead on the PGA Tour for the 21st time, he is 2-for-20 in converting those leads into wins (2010 Memorial Tournament presented by Workday / 2011 BMW Championship). Other notables:
▪️ It's Rose's sixth lead/co-lead at the Farmers Insurance Open, the most leads/co-leads after any round at the event since 2016 (next: 4 / Jon Rahm).
▪️ At 45 years, 5 months, 30 days, marks the first time in 21 years a player 45 years or older has held the 18-hole lead/co-lead at the Farmers Insurance Open (first since: Tom Lehman/2005/45 years, 10 months, 13 days)
▪️ Since 1988, the Farmers Insurance Open has had only one winner who held the first-round lead/co-lead and went on to win: Patrick Reed (2021).
