FIRST THOUGHT

The Arnold Palmer Invitational may have a reduced 72-player field, but the leaderboard certainly reflects a certain strength. Daniel Berger, who has been limited by injuries the past few years but is now healthy, fired a nifty 9-under 63 at Bay Hill Club & Lodge to hold a three-shot lead over Collin Morikawa and Ludvig Aberg. Two-time API winner Scottie Scheffler, sits at 2 under. Berger, whose last Tour win was in 2021, is making his season's seventh start, his best finish being a T6 at the Sony Open.
