FIRST THOUGHT

Though Scottie Scheffler has just eight PGA Tour wins, the quality and weight of those wins are quickly making him not just a rising star, but one of the game's greats. Included in that total are wins at the Masters, WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, twice at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Players Championship — the most recent being Sunday in masterful fashion. Not only was the world No. 1's 72-hole total of 20-under 268 the second-lowest winning score in tournament history and lowest since Greg Norman in 1994 (24-under 264), but his Sunday 64 tied the lowest final-round score by a winner in tournament history — Fred Couples (1996) and Davis Love III (2003). Plus, for the second successive year, he posted four scores in the 60s to become the only player in tournament history to do so in two different years.
