Masters Takeaways:
▪️ Rory McIlroy becomes the fourth player to win consecutive Masters. The only other back-to-back winners are Jack Nicklaus (1965-1966), Nick Faldo (1989-1990) and Tiger Woods (2001-2002).
▪️ McIlroy now has six career major championships, tied for 12th on the all-time list with Lee Trevino, Nick Faldo and Phil Mickelson.
▪️ McIlroy, at 36 years, 343 days old, is the third-oldest player to win the same major in each of back-to-back years, behind only Old Tom Morris (1861 and 1862 Open Championships at ages 40 and 41) and Ben Hogan (1949 and 1950 U.S. Opens at ages 37 and 38).
▪️ McIlroy has now converted into victories six of the eight major championships in which he had at least a share of the 54-hole lead.
▪️ Scottie Scheffler has now finished among the top-20 in all seven of his Masters appearances. No player has had a longer streak to start his Masters career since Byron Nelson did that in each of his first 14 Masters, from 1935-1951.
▪️ Scheffler did not make a bogey (or worse) over the final two rounds of the tournament, becoming the first player since WWII to go without a bogey on the weekend at the Masters.
▪️ Scheffler, who shot 68 on Sunday, shot under par in the final round for the seventh straight time, matching a Masters record held by Tom Watson (1976-1982).
▪️ Justin Rose finished in a tie for third place. It marked his fifth top-five finish at the Masters, which is tied with Jim Ferrier for the fourth most by any player without a green jacket behind only Tom Kite (9), Greg Norman (8) and Lloyd Mangrum (8).
▪️ The field scoring average on the weekend was 71.361, which was the third-lowest in Masters history behind 2018 (70.877) and 2019 (71.115).
