Guest: Jack Nicklaus II, son of Masters champion Jack Nicklaus.

Description: Nicklaus who caddied for his father 40 years ago in the epic 1986 Masters victory joins host Ward Clayton. Nicklaus II, now age 64, discusses his college career at the University of North Carolina, the significant moments in his father’s back-nine rally and the resumption of the family’s golf architecture business after a litigated disagreement with a business partner.

Talking Points:
▪️ Jack Nicklaus II won the 1985 Men’s North-South Amateur in Pinehurst with his father on site for just about every shot in the final rounds of the match-play event.
▪️ Father and son avoided eye contact on the back nine of the 1986 Masters because there was concern that each would emotionally break down.
▪️ The favorite food during that Masters win was Barbara’ Nicklaus’ veal parmesan for Jack and an egg salad sandwich for Jackie. The sandwich was stuffed in his caddie jumpsuit.
▪️ In a rearely seen interview, Augusta sportscaster Stan Byrdy got the final Jack Nicklaus interview of that Sunday night, at 10:45 p.m., just prior to the 11 p.m., news.
