FIRST THOUGHT

The 150th British Open at St. Andrews in July is shaping up to be an epic celebration. On Tuesday it was announced that a record-setting 290,000 fans are set to attend the year's final major — 51,000 more than the previous high set in 2000 when Tiger Woods won. Also, according to an independent forecast by the Sport Industry Research Centre at Sheffield Hallam University, this Open is expected to generate around £200 million in total economic benefit to Scotland.
