This week’s Mexico Open includes 10 players from Mexico, the most of any PGA Tour event on record — 1983-present. In addition to active PGA Tour members Abraham Ancer and Carlos Ortiz, the Mexican contingent also includes Santiago De la Fuente, Manuel Inman, Jose Cristobal Islas and Jose Antonio Safa, all of whom received sponsor exemptions and are making their Tour debuts. Also playing is Ortiz’s brother Alvaro, who won the 2021 Mexico Open as a PGA Tour Latinoamerica event. Roberto Diaz, Armando Favela and Isidro Benitez round out the 10.
