FIRST THOUGHT

Apparently, 'tis the season for snapping droughts. When Emiliano Grillo won the Charles Schwab Challenge on Sunday, the victory was his first since the 2015 Fortinet Championship — a winless span of seven years, seven months and 10 days (2,779 days). His was the second-longest victory drought snapped this season, just two months shy of Chris Kirk's seven years, nine months and two days streak that was snapped at the The Honda Classic.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK

June 9 will mark the anniversary of the first LIV Golf Invitational Series event. Since then, more players have jumped from the PGA Tour, two (Cameron Smith and Brooks Koepka) have won half of the four majors played, and the league still does not receive world ranking points. How have your opinions of LIV Golf changed, if at all?

Send replies on this question or other topics and questions you would like to have asked to shall@buffalogroupe.com. For a response to be published, you must include your first and last name, along with city and state of residence. Read last week's responses.

PGA PROFESSIONAL SPOTLIGHT

KATIE DAHL
Director of Instruction, West Bay Club

The First Call: What is your favorite instructional tip to share with a golfer?
Katie Dahl: Learn a purposeful pre-shot routine. It will help you to be more consistent and to perform well under pressure.

TFC: What is the best advice you have received on your career path?
KD: One of my mentors, Rick Smith, encouraged me to really study the swings of top professionals. To learn the similarities, differences, and the matchups that allow these players to excel even though they each have somewhat unique motions. He also taught me that good teachers explain but great teachers inspire.
