CURTIS CUP TALKING POINTS
➡️ Bel-Air Country Club will host the 44th Curtis Cup Match on a historic par-70 layout spanning 6,284 yards. Originally designed by George C. Thomas in 1927, the Los Angeles, California, course was fully restored in 2017 by Tom Doak, and daily yardages will vary based on tournament conditions.
➡️ Great Britain and Ireland captain Catriona Matthew looks to retain the Cup after defeating Meghan Stasi's American squad 10½-9½ in 2024. Stasi, a four-time U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur champion, returns seeking redemption in this biennial showcase of elite international female amateur golf.
➡️ World No. 1 amateur Kiara Romero will make her Curtis Cup debut for the U.S. team. The rising senior at the University of Oregon is coming off a spectacular performance at the U.S. Women’s Open, where she finished tied for sixth to earn low-amateur honors.
➡️ The formidable United States squad features three players currently ranked inside the global amateur top 10. The lineup is led by top-ranked Romero, NCAA individual champion Farah O’Keefe at No. 4, and 17-year-old phenom Asterisk Talley at No. 7.
➡️ The event marks just the second time California has hosted the Curtis Cup, following the American team's 13-5 victory at San Francisco Golf Club in 1974. It also represents the 96th USGA championship held in the state, capping a historic two-week run of women's golf in Los Angeles.
