Aldrich Potgieter served up a nice helping of youth while winning the Rocket Classic Sunday. Potgieter, at 20 years, 9 months, 16 days, became the seventh-youngest PGA Tour winner since the start of the 1983 season. Those ahead of him are Jordan Spieth (2013 John Deere Classic; 19 years, 11 months, 17 days); Nick Dunlap (2024 American Express; 20 years, 29 days); Tom Kim (2022 Wyndham Championship; 20 years, 1 month, 17 days); Matthew Wolff (2019 3M Open; 20 years, 2 months, 23 days); Tom Kim (2022 Shriners Children’s Open; 20 years, 3 months, 18 days); Nick Dunlap (2024 Barracuda Championship; 20 years, 6 months, 28 days); Phil Mickelson (1991 Northern Telecom Open; 20 years, 6 months, 28 days) and Tiger Woods (1996 Las Vegas Invitational; 20 years, 9 months, 6 days). Also, Potgieter became the youngest PGA Tour winner from South Africa since 1983. By winning on the fifth playoff hole — the par-3 15th — Potgieter won the longest playoff on Tour since Patrick Cantlay defeated Bryson DeChambeau in six holes at the 2021 BMW Championship.
