FIRST THOUGHT

If the upstart LIV Golf Invitational Series wasn't controversial enough, this week the Saudi-backed circuit visits Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, about an hour west of Manhattan. A poll question posed in Saturday's The First Call/Weekend Edition asked "Do you believe former U.S. President Donald Trump should have canceled the LIV Golf Invitational Series at his Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, due to its proximity to the 9/11 site?" and 68 percent of respondents said "yes." In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Trump said LIV Golf is "one of the hottest things to have happened in sports" and that he couldn't address the concerns of 9/11 families that have spoken out against the circuit. "I don't know what is the relationship to this ... I can't really comment on that because I don't know exactly what they're saying."
