ROCKET CLASSIC TALKING POINTS
➡️ Detroit Golf Club’s North Course underwent a $16.1 million Donald Ross restoration ahead of the seventh Rocket Classic. The revamped layout now plays as a par 70, down from a par 72 in previous years, after Nos. 7 and 17 were converted into par 4s. As the penultimate event of the regular season, players are making their final push to finish inside the top 70 of the FedEx Cup standings and earn a spot in the postseason.
➡️ Reigning champion Aldrich Potgieter returns to Detroit Golf Club leading the PGA Tour in driving distance with an unprecedented 330.0-yard average. Potgieter, 21, is joined by fellow 21-year-old Jackson Koivun, who enters on the heels of his breakthrough win at the 3M Open. Koivun became the youngest American player to win a tour event by multiple strokes since 1932 after setting a 3M Open tournament scoring record at 25-under 259.
➡️ Xander Schauffele is set to make his Rocket Classic debut following a remarkably consistent run across the major season. The 10-time PGA Tour winner joined Scottie Scheffler as the only two players to record top-20 finishes in all four major championships this year. Schauffele seeks his first victory since the 2025 Baycurrent Classic.
➡️ World No. 3 Cameron Young and U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark enter the week as two of the tour's four multi-time winners this season. Young arrives off a solo-second finish at the Open Championship two weeks ago, having made the cut in all 15 of his starts this year. Meanwhile, Clark has placed T13 or better in six of his past seven starts, highlighted by victories at the U.S. Open and The CJ Cup Byron Nelson.
