Thursday's opening round of the Paris 2024 Men’s Olympic Golf Competition had the feel of a major. The leaders, Hideki Matsuyama at 8-under 63 and Xander Schauffele at 6-under 65, are both major champions. What wasn't major-like was the scoring, as Le Golf National yielded 41 under-par rounds and 47 of par or better. The 13 players who posted over-par rounds also was not lacking star power as U.S. Open champions Matt Fitzpatrick and Wyndham Clark carded scores of 73 and 75, respectively.

If the 2024 PGA Tour season ended today, who would you choose for Player of the Year — Scottie Scheffler with six wins, including the Masters; Xander Schauffele, with both 2024 wins being majors (PGA Championship, British Open); or someone else?

Here’s what our experts are predicting for this month based on comparison years of 1973, 1980, 1991, 2010, 2016 and 2020. PROJECTED REGIONAL IMPACTS FOR GOLF OPERATORS > In the comparison years, the Southeast saw increased rainfall which could reduce the number of playable rounds but also help to erode ongoing drought conditions experienced this summer. |
