KEY FACTOR
Going into August, the warm Atlantic Ocean and local soil moisture will be the most important factors in determining the number of playable days at your club. Here’s what our experts are predicting for this month based on comparison years of 1973, 1980, 1991, 2010, 2016 and 2020
PROJECTED REGIONAL IMPACTS FOR GOLF OPERATORS
> In the comparison years, the Southeast saw increased rainfall which could reduce the number of playable rounds but also help to erode ongoing drought conditions experienced this summer.
> Courses in the Plains and Ohio Valley may experience drier than normal conditions, which could possibly yield a few more playable days as summer begins to draw to a close.
> Based on the comparison years with similar weather patterns, club operators in the Great Lakes, New England, and Southwest should prepare for slightly wetter conditions and possibly fewer playable days.
