Thursday's leaderboard at the FedEx St. Jude Championship had a distinct English feel as Tommy Fleetwood sat at 7-under 63 and Harry Hall and Justin Rose were at 6-under 64. While Fleetwood is a lock to make the European Ryder Cup team — he currently sits third in points ahead of the Aug. 24 cut off date — he still seeks his elusive first PGA Tour title. Hall and Rose, though, are different stories when it comes to the European squad. Rose is eighth in points, just two spots shy of qualifying automatically, but the 45-year-old is likely a captain's pick based on his Ryder Cup resume — six appearances, the last being as a key cog in Europe's win in Rose two years ago. Hall's prospects are murky. He is 69th in the world rankings and 23rd in the European points, but his play of late has been sterling. In addition to a PGA Tour win in 2024, Hall has eight top-25 finishes in his last nine starts. Would a win change European Captain Luke Donald's mind? Only time will tell.

What do you think of an idea where the PGA Tour does not end the FedEx Cup Playoffs with the Tour Championship, but a revamped Players Championship? And either eliminating the Tour Championship or changing its format and dates?
