FEDEX ST. JUDE CHAMPIONSHIP
➡️ The 2026 FedEx Cup Playoffs begin at TPC Southwind with a 69-player field for the FedEx St. Jude Championship after Daniel Berger withdrew due to an injury. The top 50 players in the standings after this week will advance to the BMW Championship at Bellerive Country Club and secure spots in all 2027 Signature Events. Winners of the first two playoff events will earn 750 FedEx Cup points, down from 2,000 in previous years to place increased emphasis on regular-season performance.
➡️ Michael Brennan makes his FedEx Cup Playoffs debut at No. 47 in the standings following his victory at the Wyndham Championship. The 24-year-old former Wake Forest standout was the only player to enter the regular-season finale outside the top 70 and qualify for the postseason, surging from No. 105 to No. 47. His victory marked the third consecutive PGA Tour win by a player under age 25.
➡️ World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler enters the postseason holding a 794-point lead atop the FedEx Cup standings over Matt Fitzpatrick, meaning no player in the field can overtake him this week. Scheffler leads the PGA Tour in total strokes gained, scoring average and official money with more than $16.9 million. He is making his seventh consecutive start at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, where he has recorded three top-five finishes.
➡️ Reigning champion Justin Rose returns to TPC Southwind seeking to repeat his 2025 playoff victory. The 2018 FedEx Cup champion enters the week 24th in the standings and 12th in the Official World Golf Ranking. Rose, who earned his 13th tour title wire-to-wire at the Farmers Insurance Open earlier this season, is making his 19th playoff appearance in 20 seasons of the FedEx Cup era.
➡️ Three-time FedExCup champion Rory McIlroy is making his 13th start at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and his first at the event since 2024. McIlroy, the world No. 2, holds 30 PGA Tour titles, the most of any player in the field. He enters the postseason with four top-10 finishes in 11 starts this season, highlighted by his victory at the Masters Tournament.
➡️ Five PGA Tour rookies qualified for the FedEx Cup Playoffs: Kristoffer Reitan (No. 18), Alex Fitzpatrick (No. 19), Sudarshan Yellamaraju (No. 57), Jordan Smith (No. 64) and Jackson Koivun (No. 70).
