BMW CHAMPIONSHIP NOTEBOOK
➡️ Wyndham Clark captured his sixth PGA Tour title and third of the season with a three-stroke victory at the BMW Championship. The 32-year-old held at least a share of the lead after every round, finishing at 17-under par to become the first golfer since Dustin Johnson in 2016 to win both the U.S. Open and BMW Championship in the same season. With the victory, Clark advanced to No. 3 in the FedEx Cup standings.
➡️ Three players played their way inside the top 30 of the FedEx Cup standings at the BMW Championship to qualify for the season-ending Tour Championship. Gary Woodland surged from 31st to 18th with a tied-for-fourth finish, while runner-up Patrick Cantlay rose from 43rd to 19th and Robert MacIntyre climbed from 36th to 25th. Their movement knocked Kurt Kitayama, Rickie Fowler and Bud Cauley out of the postseason field.
➡️ Scottie Scheffler finished tied for 12th at the BMW Championship to secure the No. 1 position in the FedEx Cup standings entering the Tour Championship for the fifth consecutive year. Cantlay recorded his 12th career second-place finish on tour, while third-place finisher Rory McIlroy extended his active streak of qualifying for the Tour Championship to a tour-leading nine straight seasons.
➡️ Six golfers qualified for the Tour Championship for the first time in their careers: Ryan Gerard, Kristoffer Reitan, Min Woo Lee, Alex Smalley, Alex Fitzpatrick and Ryan Fox. Reitan (No. 20) and Fitzpatrick (No. 24) represent the only two rookies to advance to the 30-player finale at East Lake Golf Club.
