FIRST THOUGHT

The record will show that Viktor Hovland, 25, won the Tour Championship at 27-under par this weekend at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. And it will also show he won rather easily by five strokes over Xander Schauffele. Lost in that, though, will be the fact that Hovland and Schauffele both shot 19 under for the weekend. The winning five-stroke margin? Hovland's 8 under Starting Strokes position on Thursday, five better than Schauffele. The victory also marks the largest margin of victory in the FedEx Cup Starting Strokes era.
