FIRST THOUGHT

The PGA Tour conceived the FedEx Cup standings in 2007, so its lifespan is still a young 18 years. Not surprising, Tiger Woods dominated the standings' early years and was No. 1 in points for a record 85 weeks. Scottie Scheffler, who won the Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup Playoffs, on Sunday, is now giving chase, having led the next most number of weeks at 50. In recent weeks, Scheffler moved past Dustin Johnson (49) and Jimmy Walker (48). Perhaps more telling of Scheffler's dominance is his 68 straight weeks as No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking, fifth most since its inception in 1986. Only Nick Faldo (81), Greg Norman (96) and Tiger Woods (264, 281) have more consecutive weeks. Golf Digest broke down Scheffler's other eye-popping numbers.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK

By winning the Tour Championship, Scottie Scheffler became the first player to win seven times on the PGA Tour since Tiger Woods in 2007. Was Scheffler's feat diminished by the the absence of Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka and other top LIV Golf players?

LPGA: Announces that the FM Championship, which made its debut with a $3.8 million purse in 2024, will return to TPC Boston in Norton, Massachusetts, in 2025. Specific dates will be released with the LPGA's 2025 schedule later this fall. The purse was the largest non-major, non-tour championship purse on the LPGA and in addition to offering complimentary hotel accommodations to players, FM provided a $1,000 stipend to athletes who missed the cut for the weekend rounds.
