According to Pellucid Corp., September weather results were off marginally as golf playable hours decreased 2% vs. 2021, partly due to Hurricane Ian rolling through Florida and the Carolinas. Still, the month managed to shrink the national year-to-date deficit to minus-5%. It was minus-6% in August.

Launched: By TrackMan, the Bullseye Championship, a global competition that invites golfers to show off their shotmaking skills at participating TrackMan-powered driving ranges. TrackMan has partnered with Shot Scope to offer prizes to the top five finishers at each range location. The competition runs through Oct. 31.

Announced: By LIV Golf, that two-time major winner Dustin Johnson secured the inaugural LIV Golf Individual Championship on Sunday at the LIV Golf Invitational Bangkok. Johnson totaled five top-10 finishes in the opening six events, including a win at the LIV Golf Invitational Boston. Johnson earned $18 million for winning the season-long title.

Selected: By the United States Golf Association, El Caballero Country Club, in Tarzana, California, as the host site of the 2024 U.S. Girls’ Junior. The 75th edition of the championship will be July 15-20. The club hosted the 2018 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship and has also hosted several USGA qualifiers, including for the U.S. Open, U.S. Amateur and U.S. Senior Open. El Caballero was a three-time host of the LPGA Tour’s Office Depot Championship.

Announced: By PGA HOPE, the 501(c)(3) charitable foundation of the PGA of America, that PGA HOPE National Golf and Wellness Week will take place Oct. 13-18, at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. A group of 20 veterans and two squad leaders — all graduates of their local PGA HOPE programs — will participate in an immersive four-day event that includes advanced golf instruction and wellness training. Two-time PGA champion and 1991 United States Ryder Cup Captain Dave Stockton will serve as a special guest.
