The Play Golf Myrtle Beach World Amateur Championship claims to be the "largest golf tournament on earth" and this year's 41st playing in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, surely lived up to that billing from a financial standpoint. The tournament attracted 2,971 players and had a total economic impact of $17.1 million — $11.1 million in direct impact and $6 million in non-direct and induced spending. Part of impact was the reserving of 20,000 hotel room nights, which equated to 38,282 visitor days.
