Golf is becoming a young players sport, according to an age breakdown of U.S. on-course golfers by the National Golf Foundation. According to 2023 year-end estimates published in October, 57% of on-course golfers were under the age of 50. Of the five age ranges calculated, the 18- to 34-year-old range had the most golfers (6.3 million). That was followed by age groups 50-64 (6.1 million), 50-and-over (5.4 million), 35-49 (5.3) and 6-17 (3.5). All totaled there were 26.6 million on-course golfers in the United States.
