Colin Montgomerie made quite a name for himself by being one of Europe's greatest Ryder Cup players. On Thursday, at the inaugural World Champions Cup — a PGA Tour Champions event that features American, European and International teams — Montgomerie, 60, was turning back the clock. Montgomerie, who had a 20–9–7 Ryder Cup record and whose 23.5 points is second all time, helped Europe take the Day 1 lead by teaming with Darren Clarke to lead all scorers with 21 points. As a result Europe leads the U.S., 55.5-55, while the International team sits at 51.5.
