Best Practices: Arrowood innovates with official drinking team

Oceanside, California, course fosters a sense of community as golf shop and restaurant collaborate on initiative.

At Arrowood Golf Course in Oceanside, California, a novel collaboration between the golf shop and Fairways Kitchen and Bar restaurant has led to the creation of the Official Arrowood Drinking Team.

This initiative involves a Mug Club where customers can purchase an exclusive stainless-steel beer mug from the Arrowood golf shop and enjoy special beverage discounts at Fairway’s.

Despite initial skepticism, the program quickly gained momentum, with the first batch of mugs selling out rapidly, necessitating immediate reorders and broader advertising. This initiative not only maintained high profit margins on the mugs, but also successfully offset the costs associated with discounted drinks, fostering a strong community connection.

Building on this success, Arrowood introduced a stainless-steel wine tumbler, further expanding the program's appeal and continuing to generate significant revenue, thereby enhancing both customer experience and community engagement at the golf course.
